ADSL modem installation with Linux (Debian/Knoppix) and ADSL configuration
ADSL modem installation with Linux (Debian/Knoppix) and ADSL configuration
Known modems:
- Speed Touch USB
- Speed Touch 330
This script allows the connection from Knoppix installed on the hard disk or from the live CD.
The installation described here is valid for Linux distributions based on Debian and especially Knoppix.
You need to download these files before starting the configuration:
These files must be in the same directory which is not necessarily
writable. They can be on a floppy disk for instance (/mnt/floppy)
The installation can now start.
The installation must be done by the root user or a 'sudoer' user:
<?php $ /mnt/floppy/speedtouch-adsl.sh # If the script is on the floppy disk ?>
You now should be connected (connection is automatic at each start-up or when the modem is plugged in).
To ease the use of the script, you can set the variables at the
beginning of the script. These variables are LOGIN, PASSWORD, VPI_VCI.
When set, the script doesn't ask you anything.
These variables are saved to ~/.adslrc. If the $HOME directory is
persistant (see Knoppix) you won't have to enter them during to next
connections.
I hope this works because I can't make it simpler...
